The German Steel Federation (WV Stahl) has extended the contract of its managing director, Kerstin Maria Rippel, by five years. The early renewal signals continuity and long-term commitment at a time of major challenges for the steel industry.

WV Stahl President Gunnar Groebler stated that the organisation is placing full trust in Rippel’s leadership. Since taking office in May 2023, she has represented the interests of the steel sector with strong technical expertise and public presence, raising the federation’s visibility in politics, media and society.

Rippel expressed gratitude for the support and emphasised the importance of sustained advocacy in Berlin, Brussels and the federal states: “Our industry is under intense pressure. Together with our member companies and the WV Stahl team, we will continue to work towards the long-term goal of 'Clean Steel Made in Germany'. A supportive political framework remains essential to remain competitive today.”

The contract extension reflects WV Stahl’s aim to help shape the regulatory environment for the industry and strengthen Germany as an industrial location in the long term.
