German Chancellor and Prime Minister of Norway visit Salzgitter AG stand in Hanover
by David Fleschen
The Salzgitter Group's first day at the trade fair kicked off with a genuine highlight: Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, and Stephan Weil, Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, Federal Research Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger visited the Salzgitter AG stand in Hall 13. The large delegation was welcomed by Gunnar Groebler, CEO, Thorsten Möllmann, Head of Communications, and Alexander Heck, Head of Public & Regulatory Affairs.
Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz showed a great deal of interest in our SALCOS® - Salzgitter Low CO2 Steelmaking and informed himself about the incremental implementation of the program.
As Gunnar Groebler stated: "The basic materials industry in Germany is the foundation for numerous value creation chains. As part of this, the steel industry is undergoing a transformation towards low-CO2 production processes, and Salzgitter AG is the frontrunner with its SALCOS® offerings. We enable the green transformation with our steel products. In this context, it is important that green lead markets are established."
Salzgitter AG will be exhibiting at the Hannover Messe from April 22 to 26. With its trade fair motto "A new way of thinking for a new industry - #hierpassierts", the company is underlining its leading role in the circular economy and the sustainable transformation of the economy.
The Group's new proprietary green steel brand SALCOS® will also be presented to partners and fairgoers at the Hannover Messe. With the eponymous SALCOS® transformation program, the Salzgitter Group is incrementally converting its steel production to hydrogen-based processes with the aim of achieving virtually CO2-free steel production. Under the SALCOS® brand, the Group will be selling green steel products in future that meet defined criteria such as the extensive and sophisticated physical reduction of CO2. Consequently, the product brand is oriented to the system of the German Steel Federation, the proposals of which are supporting the development of green lead markets for climate-friendly products.
At this year's Hannover Messe, Salzgitter AG will be presenting our company and its product offerings for the first time in Hall 13, where companies from the hydrogen and fuel cell industry will also be exhibiting.
