by David Fleschen
On September 7, Tenova LOI Thermprocess and Tenova Technologies (Tianjin) signed three contracts with the Sanbao Group for the supply of three Annealing and Coating Lines (ACL) for non-grain oriented (NGO) silicon steel. The signing ceremony took place at Sanbao Iron & Steel Co., Ltd.’s headquarters in Zhangzhou, China. Tenova LOI Thermprocess specializes in supplying industrial furnace systems for metal heat treatment and is part of Tenova, a company focused on sustainable solutions for the metals industry’s green transition.
The event was organized by the Sanbao Group and attended by key representatives, including Mr. Wang Guangwen, Chairman, and Mr. Dong Guibo, Vice General Manager of Sanbao Group, alongside Mr. Sascha Bothen, Senior Vice President of Sales, and Mr. Wolfgang Eggert, General Sales Manager from Tenova LOI Thermprocess.
The scope of the contracts includes the design and supply of three ACL units for NGO silicon steel heat treatment furnaces, marking the Sanbao Group's entry into silicon steel production. These contracts are part of Sanbao’s "Cold Rolled Silicon Steel and Metal Products Deep Processing Project," an initiative aimed at producing electrical steel with the highest surface quality and magnetic properties in Southeast China.
In addition to the design and supply, the contracts cover the commissioning of the advanced process equipment. This agreement highlights the ongoing collaboration between Tenova and the Sanbao Group. Notably, two electric arc furnaces (EAF) previously supplied by Tenova Group are already operational.
Mr. Wang Guangwen, Chairman of Sanbao Group, commented on the collaboration, stating, "Tenova’s Consteel® technology and the successful references of Tenova LOI Thermprocess in electrical steel heat treatment, along with their efforts in research and development, convinced us to proceed with this investment."
Mr. Sascha Bothen, Senior Vice President Sales at Tenova LOI Thermprocess, added, "We are honored to participate in the Sanbao Group's signing ceremony and are proud to continue working together towards advancing green energy in the steel industry."
Sanbao Group, founded in 1999, is a leading steel enterprise with both long and short process capabilities and advanced equipment. The group employs more than 5,000 people and has assets exceeding 20 billion yuan. In 2023, Sanbao Group was recognized among the "Top 500 Enterprises in China" and received several accolades, including "National High-tech Enterprise" and “National Green Factory.”
