SSAB and DS Stålprofil decide on a partnership for fossil-free steel
by David Fleschen
Steel profile manufacturer DS Stålprofil and steel producer SSAB have announced a partnership for the gradual supply of fossil-free steel from 2026. Danish company DS Stålprofil plans to use the fossil-free steel for its roof and façade cladding.
The partnership will further strengthen DS Stålprofil's position as a provider of sustainable, durable and low-maintenance building solutions and brings SSAB closer to its goal of creating a fossil-free value chain together with its partners.
"We are delighted to have DS Stålprofil as a partner for SSAB's fossil-free steel products," says Jan Meier, Sales Director at SSAB Europe. "Together we will support and enable the construction industry to meet future challenging CO2 reduction targets for new buildings. Sustainable construction - not only in the use phase, but also in the materials used for the building - is becoming increasingly important. And with SSAB Fossil-free™ steel, we can make a real difference to this industry."
"In the transition to a new, low-carbon economy, our steel products will make an important contribution for contractors, architects and builders to achieve their climate goals," said Thomas Rasmussen, CEO of DS Stålprofil. "The unique, fossil-free steel has a long service life and is
100% recyclable. We look forward to an even closer partnership with SSAB and to being able to offer our customers the same high-quality steel cladding as before - but now with an even more sustainable profile. In this way we take responsibility and contribute to creating a more sustainable future."
