SMS Group to upgrade PSM380 mill for Qinghai Xigang New Materials

SMS Group has entered into a contract with Qinghai Xigang New Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Xining Special Steel, to upgrade the PSM380 Precision Sizing Mill. The project aims to enhance production efficiency, improve product quality, and strengthen Xigang New Materials’ competitive position in China’s special steel market.

The upgrade is expected to enhance dimensional accuracy, reduce labor costs in downstream processing, and allow for the production of a wider range of steel grades. The improvements will optimize microstructure control and low-temperature rolling processes, ensuring higher product quality and efficiency.

Upon completion, the upgraded mill will facilitate faster specification changes, reduce downtimes, and increase overall output. The enhancements will also contribute to more consistent product quality, minimizing material waste and improving yield, which will boost annual production capacity.

As part of the agreement, Qinghai Xigang New Materials has also signed a comprehensive maintenance contract with SMS Group. The company will provide ongoing technical outsourcing services based on its lifecycle partnership model, ensuring sustained plant performance and long-term operational efficiency.
