Shipments and stocks of EU Distribution in first 9 months 2020

In first 9 months of 2020, shipments of EU SSC dropped by -16,1%
EUROMETAL’s market monitoring system is tracking EU steel distribution shipments and stocks for its two main business segments:
- Flat SSC Distribution
- Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding Distribution
EU Flat SSC Distribution
In first 9 months of 2020, shipments of EU SSC did fall by -16,1% in a year-on-year comparison.
In September of 2020 compared to September 2019, Strip Mill Products shipments did rise by 3,7%, year-on-year, compared with -1,5% for the month of August.
When expressed in days of shipments, stocks at EU SSC reached 59 days in September 2020, compared to 73 days in September 2019.
For September 2020, the index of stock volumes did drop and noted at index 94, to be compared with index 114 in September 2019 (average 2015 = index 100).
EU Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding Distribution
In the first 9 months of 2020, EU Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding Distribution registered lower shipments for almost all products of its portfolio.
As a matter of fact, during the first 9 months of 2020, total shipments dropped by -11,9 %, year-on-year.
September of 2020 compared to September 2019, “Total Steel Products” shipments decreased, year-on-year by -2,1%. Only Merchant Bars, Hot Rolled Flats & Cold Rolled Flats had a positive trend.
Stock volumes index of EU Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding Distribution registered at 83 in September 2020, to be compared to a significantly higher index of 92 one year before (average 2015 =Index 100).
When expressed in days of shipments, stock volumes levelled in September 2020 at 68 days of shipments, compared to 74 days in September 2019.
