Shipments and stocks of EU Distribution in first 8 months 2020

In first 8 months of 2020, shipments of EU SSC dropped by -18,7 %
Basle – EUROMETAL’s market monitoring system is tracking EU steel distribution shipments and stocks for its two main business segments:
- Flat SSC Distribution
- Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding Distribution
EU Flat SSC Distribution
In first 8 months of 2020, shipments of EU SSC did fall by -18,7% in a year-on-year comparison. In August of 2020 compared to August 2019, Strip Mill Products shipments did drop by -1,5%, year-on-year, compared with -11,8% for the month of July. When expressed in days of shipments, stocks at EU SSC reached 108 days in August 2020, compared to 124 days in August 2019.
For August 2020, the index of stock volumes did drop and noted at index 98, to be compared with index 115 in August 2019 (average 2015 = index 100).
EU Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding Distribution
In the first 8 months of 2020, EU Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding Distribution registered lower shipments for almost all products of its portfolio. Only rebar remained identical. As a matter of fact, during the first 8 months of 2020, total shipments dropped by -13,2 %, year-on-year. August of 2020 compared to August 2019, “All Steel Products” shipments decreased, year-on-year by -12,7%.
Stock volumes index of EU Multi-Product & Proximity
Steel Stockholding Distribution registered at 85 in August 2020, to be compared to a significantly higher index of 95 one year before (average 2015 =Index 100). When expressed in days of shipments, stock volumes levelled in August 2020 at 81 days of shipments, compared to 80 days in August 2019.
