Shipments and stocks of EU Distribution in first 10 months 2020

In first 10 months of 2020, shipments of EU SSC dropped by -14,0%. In same period shipments of EU multi-product & proximity steel stockholding distribution were down by -11,0%.
EUROMETAL’s market monitoring system is tracking EU steel distribution shipments and stocks for its two main business segments:
- Flat SSC Distribution
• Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding Distribution
EU Flat SSC Distribution
In first 10 months of 2020, shipments of EU SSC did fall by -14,0% in a year-on-year comparison. In October of 2020 compared to October 2019, Strip Mill Products shipments did rise by 3,3%, year-on-year, compared with 4,7% for the month of September. When expressed in days of shipments, stocks at EU SSC reached 57 days in October 2020, compared to 71 days in October 2019.
For October 2020, the index of stock volumes did drop and noted at index 88, to be compared with index 110 in October 2019 (average 2015 = index 100).
EU Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding Distribution
In the first 10 months of 2020, EU Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding Distribution registered lower shipments for almost all products of its portfolio. As a matter of fact, during the first 10 months of 2020, total shipments dropped by -11,0 %, year-on-year. October of 2020 compared to October 2019, “Total Steel Products” shipments decreased, year-on-year by -2,3%. Only Strip Mill Products (Hot Rolled Flats, Cold Rolled Flats, Galv. & Other Coated Flats) had a positive trend.
Stock volumes index of EU Multi-Product & Proximity Steel
Stockholding Distribution registered at 83 in October 2020, to be compared to a significantly higher index of 91 one year before (average 2015 =Index 100). When expressed in days of shipments, stock volumes levelled in October 2020 at 66 days of shipments, compared to 71 days in October 2019.
