Severstal invests 1 billion rubles in the modernization of Izhora Pipe Plant

JSC Severstal, one of the largest vertically integrated steel and mining companies in the world, invested about 1 billion rubles in 2019 in the modernization of the Izhora Pipe Plant (ITZ, part of the Severstal Russian Steel division) for the production of electric-welded pipes with a diameter of 508 mm
At the Izhora Pipe Plant, whose main specialization is the production of large-diameter pipes from the strip of the Cherepovets Metallurgical Plant (part of the Severstal Russian Steel division), the modernization of technological equipment, including an edge bending press, an assembly-welding mill, internal welding mills, a hydraulic press, has been completed , completely reconstructed lines of external and internal coatings.
Severstal has modernized its ITZ equipment to ensure the technical feasibility of pipe production for the construction of the Yuzhno-Kirinskoye field. In addition, electric-welded pipes with a diameter of 508 mm or more have a wide scope and are used for the construction of pipelines: gas and oil pipelines, field and technical pipelines, as well as structures for various purposes.
“The modernization of the Izhora Pipe Plant corresponds to the strategic priority“ Excellent customer experience ”and will allow us to produce a complete assortment line of large-diameter pipes for oil and gas customers and offer our customers package solutions, including for the construction of mining complexes, using the technical developments of all Severstal and replacing imported counterparts, ”said Artem Akinfiev, director of pipe production and general director of Izhora Pipe Plant JSC.
The first products in the new range of nomenclatures are planned to be released in early 2020.
The general designer of the modernization was JSC “KO VNIIMETMASH”, whose experts, within the agreed time period and with high quality, developed documentation that allowed placing and connecting the equipment of Bauhuis International B.V. in the Izhora Pipe Plant in the shortest possible time.
