Outokumpu’s President & CEO Roeland Baan has informed the company’s Board of Directors that he will resign from Outokumpu later this spring to take a CEO position in a company outside Finland. Baan will continue as the company’s CEO until May 15, 2020. The search for Mr. Baan’s successor has been underway since last autumn, and the Board expects to make a decision well ahead of Mr. Baan’s departure.
“Under Roeland’s leadership, Outokumpu has gone through a major transformation leading to improved productivity and efficiency as well as a stronger market position,” says Kari Jordan, Chairman of the Board. “On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, I would like to warmly thank Roeland for his dedication and professional leadership which have been vital to Outokumpu’s turnaround.”
“It has been a great honor to lead Outokumpu for the past four years,” says Roeland Baan. “I have thoroughly enjoyed working here and in Finland. I am extremely proud of what the entire Outokumpu team has achieved since I joined in 2016. Today, Outokumpu is the leading market player with a healthy balance sheet, best in class operational efficiency and superior customer focus. We have become a more unified company with shared values, a strong performance culture and continuous drive for improvement.”
