Nucor to install new galvanizing line at California Steel Industries facility

Nucor Corporation, the largest steel producer in the United States, has awarded a contract to engineering group Fives for the installation of a new continuous galvanizing line at California Steel Industries (CSI) in Fontana. The investment is aimed at increasing production capacity to meet growing demand for construction materials in the western United States.

California Steel Industries, a joint venture between Nucor and JFE Steel, is expanding its capabilities to deliver high-quality, value-added steel products for the construction sector.

According to CSI general manager Drew Linder, Fives was selected based on a history of successful collaboration and a strong working relationship developed over time. “The California Steel team carefully selected Fives for this project based on the development of confidence between our two teams, as well as the past collaboration with Fives in our West Virginia facility,” he said.

Guillaume Mehlman, president of the steel and glass division at Fives, said the contract reflects the trust and technical strength shared between the companies. “This project reflects the strength of our relationship with Nucor and our commitment to delivering high-performance solutions.”

A timeline for the project has not yet been disclosed.
