Monika Boh appointed new CEO of ArcelorMittal Hamburg

ArcelorMittal Hamburg has announced the appointment of Monika Boh as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2024. Boh, who previously served as Chief Operating Officer of ArcelorMittal Hamburg, succeeds Dr. Uwe Braun. Dr. Braun will transition to new responsibilities within ArcelorMittal Europe - Long Products but will remain on the Hamburg management board during the transition period.
Commenting on her appointment, Boh stated, “The challenge of decarbonizing the steel industry presents significant work ahead. I am eager to contribute to making our Hamburg site prepared and competitive for the future.”
Monika Boh brings 29 years of experience in the steel industry, with expertise spanning plant construction, direct operations within steelworks, and work with steel-producing companies. After earning her degree in metallurgy in 1994, Boh held roles such as metallurgical process engineer and plant manager. She joined Buderus Edelstahl as a plant manager in 2016 and later became the managing director of the Bous steelworks. Boh joined ArcelorMittal as Chief Operating Officer of ArcelorMittal Hamburg on July 1, 2024. She holds a Master of Science in Metallurgy from the Montanuniversität Leoben, Austria, and has completed an MBA course in general management.
