METAV 2020 - International Trade Fair for Metal Working
by David Fleschen
It was in March 1980 when METAV, at that time with the subtitle "The Metal Working Market," opened its doors in Düsseldorf for the first time. Very quickly, she became the leading trade fair for metalworking in the even year. Today it sets the tone in the largest industrial conurbation in Germany and the adjacent markets.
Hans-Joachim Molka, Managing Director of Römheld GmbH in Laubach, Hesse, exhibitor from the very beginning, says: "For 40 years, the METAV has offered us an excellent platform for personal exchange with our customers from North Rhine-Westphalia, but also with visitors from all over Germany and beyond neighboring countries, to present our products and companies as well as to acquire new customers. We especially appreciate the high level of expertise among the visitors, which makes it easy for us to convey the advantages of our products and technologies. "And Reiner Hammerl, Managing Director Sales at Index-Werke in Esslingen, adds:" The most significant development of METAV over the years has been in that it goes away from the pure machinery fair to the representation of the process chain and the offer of solutions, also of an organizational nature. "
This convinces trade visitors who award high approval ratings. 93 percent of the last 27,000 trade fair guests from over 60 countries are very satisfied with the METAV. Conversely, the exhibitors particularly emphasize the high visitor quality.
Focus topics and innovations for the METAV 2020
METAV 2020 will take place from 10 to 13 March. At the request of the exhibitors, the term was shortened from five to four days. This guarantees a higher efficiency of exhibitor participation, according to the survey result. The focus of METAV 2020 is on the process chain in metalworking, supplemented by the areas of Quality, Medical, Molding and Additive Manufacturing. "They attract their own audience and have established themselves as platforms," says Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, Managing Director of the METAV organizer VDW (Verein Deutscher Werkzeugmaschinenfabriken). After all, Industry 4.0 is gaining momentum in metalworking. Important aspects are networked production, cloud applications and data analysis. The METAV offers a comprehensive view and evaluation of this development, both at the stands of the exhibitors and in the supporting program.
"Of course, we also want to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the METAV in a fitting way and, in particular, to give something back to our long-standing, loyal exhibitors". Wilfried Schäfer, Managing Director of the METAV organizer VDW (Verein Deutscher Werkzeugmaschinenfabriken). "That's why we introduced the early bird discount, which ensures attractive participation conditions for bookings made until 31 July 2019. On the other hand, the VDW is once involved in the freight forwarding costs at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Center. "That should bring even more machines and even more technology to the stands.
