by David Fleschen
The joint venture between Marcegaglia Steel and Manni Group has officially been launched following approval from the European Commission in November 2024. Originally signed in July 2024, the partnership will focus on the production of insulated panels and sectional door panels. The joint venture is poised to become a key player in the Italian market and the second-largest panel manufacturer in Europe, serving customers in over 70 countries. The combined entity is expected to generate approximately €500 million in revenue and employ nearly 700 people.
Under the agreement, Marcegaglia Steel will contribute its Italian production operations, managed by Marcegaglia Buildtech, and its Polish operations, managed by Marcegaglia Poland, to Isopan Spa. In exchange, Marcegaglia Steel will acquire a 50% stake in Isopan Spa, with Manni Group holding the remaining 50%. The joint venture will encompass 16 production lines across facilities in Italy—located in Pozzolo Formigaro (AL), Trevenzuolo (VR), and Patrica (FR)—as well as international sites in Spain, Romania, Poland, and Mexico, strategically positioned to serve the North American market. The company will operate under the ISOPAN and MARCEGAGLIA rwd brands both domestically and internationally.
Francesco Manni, President of Manni Group, stated, "This joint venture with Marcegaglia Steel marks a significant milestone for Manni Group, strengthening our international expansion strategy and celebrating a key moment in Isopan's history during its 50th anniversary. This partnership highlights our long-standing expertise and ongoing commitment to innovation and the decarbonization of the construction industry. Through this synergy, which expands our global reach, we will continue to lead the sector with innovative and sustainable solutions, reinforcing our role in shaping the future of global construction."
Antonio and Emma Marcegaglia, leaders of the Marcegaglia family business, commented, "We are very pleased with this joint venture, which transforms a long-standing and successful collaboration into a partnership between two prominent Italian manufacturing companies with a rich tradition in steel processing. This operation combines extensive expertise and strategic industrial infrastructure, enabling increased investment in research and development to deliver highly advanced and high-performing construction solutions. Steel's efficiency, durability, and versatility make it the ideal material to meet the diverse needs of civil and industrial construction, ensuring quality, safety, and environmental sustainability."
