Kipp Umwelttechnik invests in coating-technology
by David Fleschen
Apart from impacting millions of people’s health worldwide, the corona crisis has now also caused a global economic crisis in an extremely short time. A large number of businesses and entire business models have been called into question. This is a dramatic situation that will unfortunately remain with us for some time to come. Nevertheless, despite this crisis, opportunities exist to expand and improve business activities, allowing us to get right back on track again, once the crisis is over.
Kipp Umwelttechnik GmbH and its sister company, Jens W. Kipp Tiefbau GmbH, have already been working intensively on products related to the entire field of coating for several months. In the field of industrial pipes, for instance, Kipp Umwelttechnik already offers hydrophobic coatings that can withstand operating temperatures of up to 1000°C. These coatings are applied to the pipes’ interiors, after they have been cleaned in a special process.
Apart from this, and right in the heart of the crisis, Kipp Umwelttechnik and Jens W. Kipp Tiefbau have now invested in a special system for corrosion protection coatings for all conceivable surfaces such as concrete, metal and steel. Here, the company makes use of a special system that can also be positioned up to 200m away from the objects/surfaces that are to be coated. In addition to this, the system allows a high coating speed. The coating medium can also be changed in a very short time, thanks to the system’s automated cleaning process for all system components carrying operating supplies.
Our coating agents have been tried and tested in the field in the course of several years. For the most part, silicate-polymer systems are used in the area of mineral surfaces such as concrete. Water-repellent, thin-layer ceramic coatings are used for metallic surfaces such as aluminium or steel, since they offer great advantages in many areas. Another important aspect is that they offer considerably reduced cleaning times.
Kipp Umwelttechnik is also working on a coating process for sewage pipes. Initial test evaluations have already shown very promising results.
A coating can only be as good as the surface that is to be coated allows. This makes the prior thorough cleaning of these surfaces extremely important so as to ensure that the coating sticks. Kipp Umwelttechnik has the appropriate cleaning systems and years of experience in this field. What is more, Kipp Umwelttechnik now also uses its own cleaning agents, which it sells in its own service sector. The cleaning agents are listed on the Kipp Umwelttechnik website and can be ordered directly. Advising our customers is a matter of course for us.
Every machine is only as good as the people who operate it, and every process is only as good as the people who execute and monitor it. Our chemist, Christopher Schulte, M.Sc., studied in Marburg and Paderborn. He has been working at Kipp Umwelttechnik for one year, where he is in charge of the entire area of chemistry/coating, as well as disinfection. Prior to this, Mr Schulte had already cooperated intensively with Kipp Umwelttechnik on a number of projects for the University of Paderborn. The specialist is experienced in the field of surface technology, and he advises our customers in matters related to chemistry, coating and disinfection.
