John Rowe steps down as Secretary-General of the ISSF

“On the occasion of the conclusion of my contract at the end of September, I will be stepping down as the Secretary-General of the International Stainless Steel Forum after serving continuously for seven years. My successor will be Tim Collins, who has recently retired from Outokumpu after 35 years’ experience in almost all aspects of the stainless steel producer’s world, including melting, holt rolling, continuous casting, re-heating and hot rolling – all the way to finished ex-mill products. He has worked with both flat products and long products and has even had a hand in sales and marketing. Tim has a sound education, having completed a Metallurgical degree before going to the University of Warwick to do a master’s degree in Business Management and Administration.

I have had the pleasure of working with Tim for the past 15 months in varying capacities and have found him to be energetic. resourceful, knowledgeable, and, above all, a “peoples’ person”.

Tim will bring his own ideas of how to take the ISSF to the next steps of its journey, but he will also have his own way of looking at the ideas which have brought us to this point. Inevitably there will be some changes, but change is usually invigorating and challenging. Tim has the strong support of the Board and of the Annual General Meeting of the ISSF. I have no hesitation in commending him to you. I wish him well for the challenges that lie ahead, and I am certain that he can count on your support.

For myself, I have no intention of retiring. I have been fortunate enough to have been offered the position of Managing Director, together with a seat on the Board of the British Stainless Steel Association, which I have accepted. I will close my term at the ISSF on 30 September and will start at the BSSA, in Sheffield on 01 October. I will be relocating with my family to Sheffield.” […]
