Jernkontoret: Steel poduction decreases in Sweden in the first half of 2024

According to data from Jernkontoret, Sweden's crude steel production in June decreased by 2.6 percent compared to the same month last year. For the first six months of this year, total crude steel production is 3.8 percent lower than during the same period in 2023.
In June 2024, Sweden produced 356,000 tons of crude steel, representing a 2.6 percent decrease compared to June 2023. Over the first half of the year, the total production of crude steel in Sweden amounted to 2,218,000 tons, reflecting a 3.8 percent decline compared to the corresponding period last year.
Jernkontoret, the association representing the Swedish steel industry, compiled these production statistics based on data from eleven crude steel manufacturing facilities across the country. Established in 1747, Jernkontoret is one of Europe's oldest industry associations, playing a vital role in promoting the interests of Sweden’s steel producers. The organization provides research, industry guidelines, and essential statistics that contribute to the development and sustainability of the sector.
