Eurometal: In first 9 months of 2021, shipments of EU SSC rise by 14,9%

EUROMETAL’s market monitoring system is tracking EU steel distribution shipments and stocks for its two main business segments:
- Flat SSC Distribution
- Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding Distribution
EU Flat SSC Distribution
In first 9 months of 2021, shipments of EU27 + UK SSC did rise by 14,9% in a year-on-year comparison.
In September of 2021 compared to September 2020, Strip Mill Products shipments did drop by -5,5%, year-on-year, compared with a rise of 0,5% for the month of August.
When expressed in days of shipments, stocks at EU SSC reached 55 days in September 2021, compared to 59 days in September 2020.
For September 2021, the index of stock volumes did drop and noted at index 80, to be compared with index 84 in September 2020 (average 2018 = index 100).
EU Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding Distribution
In the first 9 months of 2021, EU27 + UK Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding Distribution only Rebars registered lower shipments. Other Longs, Strip Mill Products, Tubular Products and Stainless Steel registered higher shipments.
As a matter of fact, during the first 9 months of 2021, total shipments increased by 8,9 %, year-on-year.
September of 2021 compared to September 2020, “Total Steel Products” shipments decreased, year-on-year by -7,0%. All products had a negative trend, except Plates, Tubular Products, Stainless Steel and Other Alloy Steels.
Stock volumes index of EU27 + UK Multi-Product & Proximity Steel Stockholding Distribution registered at 86 in September 2021, to be compared to a lower index of 80 one year before (average 2018 =Index 100).
When expressed in days of shipments, stock volumes leveled in September 2021 at 75 days of shipments, compared to 68 days in September 2020.
