Green steel developer Binding Solutions appoints Jon Stewart as CEO

Binding Solutions Limited (BSL), a developer of green steel technology, has announced the appointment of Jon Stewart as its new Chief Executive Officer. Stewart, a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience in the international steel technology sector, takes over leadership from Julian Lee, who will continue with the company as Co-Chairman.

Stewart joins BSL from Primetals Technologies, a leading provider of solutions and services to the global metals industry. At Primetals, he held key leadership roles, including Business Director of Metallurgical Services and Head of the Global Blast Furnace business. His extensive background also includes management positions at Siemens and Voest-Alpine Industrieanlagenbau, as well as project leadership at Davy International in South Africa and Korea. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Sheffield and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. Additionally, he is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Julian Lee, Co-Chairman of BSL, emphasized the significance of Stewart’s appointment, stating, “Jon’s deep experience and strong track record will be invaluable as we deploy our technology to make green steel a reality at scale. Now is the right time to pass the leadership of BSL to someone with the industry, technical, and commercial expertise to guide the company into its next phase of growth.”

Stewart acknowledged the achievements of BSL and expressed enthusiasm for his new role, stating, “Julian and the team have done a fantastic job developing BSL’s groundbreaking cold agglomeration technology and establishing a strong reputation in the global steel industry. I look forward to leading the company at this pivotal time and supporting our industry partners in creating value while achieving meaningful emissions reductions.”
