German Steel Association critizises EU Net Zero Industry Act as not sufficient
by David Fleschen
The EU Commission today presented its proposal for a "Net Zero Industry Act". From the steel industry's point of view, however, this is not sufficient to achieve the goal of green industrial value chains.
Dr Martin Theuringer, Managing Director of the German Steel Federation, commented:
"The European Commission's approach should not be limited to a few selected "net zero technologies", but should also take particular account of basic industries such as the steel industry, which are undergoing transformation. It is precisely this industry that is a strategically important supplier of basic materials that can contribute to the goals of climate neutrality in Europe to a particular degree."
