German mechanical engineering producer Knoll opens new plant in China

KNOLL Maschinenbau, based in Bad Saulgau, is one of the leading suppliers of conveyor and filter systems for chips and cooling lubricants in the metalworking sector. Ultra-flexible assembly and transport systems round off the product range. With a comprehensive range of products, KNOLL develops complete systems and system solutions with centralised or decentralised functions.

As KNOLL products are enjoying growing demand on the Chinese market, the company took the decision to found its own subsidiary in Shanghai. The new KNOLL China Machinery Co. Ltd plant, based in the Songjiang district, opened its doors in November. Matthias Knoll, Managing Director of KNOLL Maschinenbau GmbH, welcomed many customers, partners and government representatives. The plant is a joint venture with a long-standing partner in China. It is designed as an assembly plant for manufacturing systems from the Asian market using Bad Saulgau components.

The international operations of the family-owned business from Upper Swabia are adopting a strategic position. Step by step, the company is establishing its own subsidiaries in the most important key markets. In 2017, the company founded the wholly owned subsidiary KNOLL America Inc. in Detroit, USA, with the subsidiary KNOLL Italia S.r.l. also being established in Bergamo, Italy, in the same year. The company went one step further in the Polish city of Wrocław: In addition to sales tasks, the plant there – KNOLL Polska – took charge of series production of sheet metal components, which go on to be further processed at company headquarters.
