Frank-Jürgen Weise joins supervisory board of Thyssenkrupp Steel

Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG has announced the appointment of Frank-Jürgen Weise as a neutral member of its Supervisory Board. The decision was made during a meeting held today.
Ilse Henne, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, welcomed Weise’s appointment, highlighting his reputation as a seasoned consultant and influential leader. “With Frank-Jürgen Weise, we have strengthened our Supervisory Board,” she stated. “This allows us to focus fully on the structural realignment and green transformation of thyssenkrupp Steel.”
Knut Giesler, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board and District Manager of IG Metall North Rhine-Westphalia, also expressed confidence in Weise’s contributions. “Frank-Jürgen Weise brings extensive management experience and strong social competence. His expertise will be instrumental as we navigate the challenges ahead, ensuring a secure and successful future for thyssenkrupp Steel and its workforce. Additionally, his ability to mediate differing perspectives will be invaluable.”
Weise’s professional background includes serving as Chairman of the Executive Board of the Federal Employment Agency from 2004 to 2017, during which he led significant reforms. He also headed the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees from September 2015 to December 2016. Beyond these roles, Weise has been involved in various organizations, including serving as Chairman of the Bundeswehr Structural Commission and Honorary President of Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe until 2021. Most recently, he served as Chairman of the Hertie Foundation, focusing on education and health projects, until March 2024.
