The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden hopes renewed cooperation between the EU and the U.S. on trade and China will increase the chances of resolving the three-year-old trade dispute over U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.
Biden and EU leaders today reaffirmed a deadline by the end of the year to resolve differences over steel and aluminum tariffs in a joint statement after their summit in Brussels.
"We are committed to working together to resolve the tensions arising from the U.S. application of tariffs on imports from the EU under U.S. Section 232 and will work to allow trade to recover from its 2020 low and end WTO disputes," the statement said.
