Endress+Hauser integrates specialist for concentration measurements
by David Fleschen
Endress+Hauser completes the integration of SensAction AG: The company, which specializes in concentration measurements in liquids and is headquartered in Coburg, Bavaria, will operate as Endress+Hauser Flow Deutschland AG with immediate effect. Products and technology expand Endress+Hauser's offering for the measurement and analysis of quality parameters.
SensAction was founded in 2008 and has been part of the Endress+Hauser Group since 2017. Now, the wholly owned subsidiary of Endress+Hauser Flowtec AG, based in Reinach, Switzerland, will be fully integrated into the group of companies. "We have been growing together with Endress+Hauser for years - in joint technology development as well as direct sales via our sales centers. Our new company name and the adapted corporate identity now make this visible," says CEO Stefan Rothballer (right, on the picture above).
Many possible applications
The devices for measuring concentrations in liquids use surface acoustic waves (SAW), a form of ultrasound. This technology can be used in all Endress+Hauser target markets, for example in the food industry to determine the sugar content of mixed drinks such as soft drinks. "Our devices measure concentrations in real time in the running process - precisely and reliably. This eliminates the need for a detour via the laboratory," explains Michael Münch, Executive Board member responsible for Production, Development and Quality (left, on the picture above).
Information about product quality
The measuring instruments from Coburg in Bavaria thus fit in perfectly with Endress+Hauser's strategy. "Our customers not only want to record physical process variables, but also to obtain direct information about product quality," emphasizes Dr. Mirko Lehmann, CEO of Endress+Hauser Flowtec AG. "Our goal is to be the market leader in ultrasonic flow technology combined with quality measurements."
Work is also underway to integrate SAW technology for an expanded Endress+Hauser product offering. "By combining quality and flow measurement, we can provide our customers with information for process optimization. We also want to use Industry 4.0 solutions to help our customers increase efficiency and quality," adds Michael Kaiser, Division Manager Ultrasound and IIoT Solutions.
Comprehensive application knowledge
Endress+Hauser Flow Deutschland AG has around 20 employees in Coburg. The competence center for SAW not only develops and manufactures measurement technology, but also supports customers with the necessary application knowledge. In addition, the company gathers outstanding know-how in the field of modeling and signal processing for ultrasonic applications. The specialists are part of the SAW scientific community, work closely with universities and are involved in professional associations.
