Atik Metal, a leading name in Turkey's foundry industry, has strengthened its longstanding partnership with Eirich through a major project that established one of the country's most modern foundries in Aliaga, near Izmir. The installation of an advanced sand preparation facility featuring vacuum mixing technology and an innovative control system was completed successfully, meeting Atik Metal’s high standards for quality, flexibility, and energy efficiency.
Meeting Modern Production Demands
Atik Metal aimed to build a cutting-edge facility capable of producing top-quality castings while optimizing energy use. With a capacity of 616 m³ of molding material per hour, the plant had to supply two molding lines with consistent sand quality, a challenging task Eirich addressed with its proven EVACTHERM® technology. Four large vacuum mixers, equipped with energy-efficient torque drives, formed the core of the solution, supported by intelligent control systems that predictively calculate sand and additive requirements based on production needs.
Smart Process Control and Quality Assurance
The facility features Eirich's Qualimaster system, which measures key variables such as compactability and shear strength in just 40 seconds. Paired with ‘SandExpert’ software, it ensures the right composition of sand is always available, enhancing production flexibility and quality. This innovative system also minimizes material waste and improves raw material management, ensuring stable processes and reproducible results.
Project Execution and Impact
The project, which began in 2019, was completed on time in 2023, thanks to close collaboration between Eirich and Atik Metal. The advanced sand preparation technology has already led to improvements in casting surface quality and efficiency, with fewer rejects and enhanced reliability. Atik Metal's management expressed satisfaction, highlighting how the new system has resolved long-standing issues with casting surface flaws and set new standards for future production.
