Dr. C. L. Theodor Wuppermann, Spokesman of the Management Board of Wuppermann AG, announces his upcoming retirement at the end of the year. He has become the fifth generation to lead the family business for the past 17 years.
At the beginning of 2002 Dr. Wuppermann joined the Board of Management of the holding company and assumed the role of CFO handling the areas of finance and accounting, human resources and IT. After the passing of Gerd Edgar Wuppermann in 2010, Dr. Wuppermann additionally took over the areas of public relations and law as well as the speaker function in the Board of Management.
„As a member of the Board, I was allowed to accompany and direct the destinies of our family business for almost twenty years. The time was absolutely exciting and not boring for a second. Especially outstanding were the very successful start-up of our plant in the Dutch Moerdijk, our 140th anniversary in 2012, the decision and implementation of our new production site for flat products in the Hungarian harbour Győr-Gönyű and the transfer of the busines unit Systemtechnik to a new owner“, remembers Dr. Wuppermann.
From the beginning of 2019, for the first time in its 146-year history, the management of the family-owned company will be composed exclusively of non-family members.
„With my retirement from the Board, our family business enters a new era. For the first time in our family history, no family member is at the top of the company. This is a significant turning point and a major change, especially for our employees and shareholders. But I am very confident about the future of our company. With our modern hot-dip galvanizing plants in the Netherlands and Hungary, we are today one of the largest steel processors in hot strip galvanizing in Europe. And we have forward-thinking and responsible leadership staff with loyal and dedicated employees“, summarizes Dr. Wuppermann.
Dr. Wuppermann’s most recent responsibilities of public relations, business development and human resouces will be handed over to Johannes Nonn, who has been a member of the Board of Management of Wuppermann AG since October 2018. In addition, Johannes Nonn was appointed Spokesman of the Board of Management by the Supervisory Board as of 1st January 2019.
„We thank Dr. Wuppermann for 17 years of successful executive work at Wuppermann and wish him all the best and a lot of joy for the new phase of his life“, says Prof. Dr. Klaus Trützschler, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Wuppermann AG.
