Crude steel production in Germany
by Hans Diederichs
Germany produced around 3.4 million tons of crude steel in November 2020. This means that the result is higher than in the same month of the previous year for the second time in a row, and the cautious upward trend has continued. However, the increase of around 15% had to be seen against the backdrop of exceptionally weak production in November 2019. The full-year balance remains heavily marked by the Corona crisis, he added: In the year to date, from January to November, crude steel production would fall short by close to 12% compared to the same period last year. After 2009, 2020 will in all probability be the weakest year for production since German reunification.
