Crude steel production in Germany fell by 27 percent in June
by David Fleschen
The negative effects of the corona crisis on crude steel production in Germany are clearly visible. In June, crude steel production fell by 27 per cent compared with the same month of the previous year, after serious declines had already been recorded in April and May. In the second quarter of 2020, production was 26 per cent below the level of the previous year, having already fallen by 6 per cent in the first quarter. This means that steel production in the first half of 2020 is around 16 per cent down on the same period last year.
