have recently signed a co-operation agreement. Craemer produces steel components with certified carbon-neutral ARVZERO steel. The internationally active Craemer Group, with its headquarters in Herzebrock-Clarholz and core businesses of metal forming, plastics processing and toolmaking, supplies well-known car manufacturers and automotive suppliers, among others. Acciaieria Arvedi, part of the Arvedi Group, which was founded in the early 1960s and operates in the carbon and stainless steel sector with hot and cold rolling mills, welded tubes and precision strip, produces steel coils from recycled scrap for various applications, including the automotive industry, at its plant in Cremona.

The Craemer Group, founded in 1912, is one of the leading suppliers to the automotive market with the series production of steel components and modules for motor vehicles as well as plastic pallets and containers. The use of renewable energy and recycled materials is an integral part of the company's sustainability strategy: the medium-term goal is to significantly reduce the Group's CO2 footprint and thus make a substantial contribution to climate protection.

With Acciaieria Arvedi, Craemer has chosen a reliable partner for the creation of an environmentally friendly supply chain. With research and development work that began 30 years ago, the steel company has developed an innovative technology for steel production from selected recycled scrap. The sustainability of ARVZERO steel is based on Arvedi ESP technology and production using an electric furnace, which significantly reduces CO2 emissions and uses certified renewable energy.

‘Our collaboration is an important step for steel products with a sustainable supply chain,’ emphasised Fernando Pedicillo, Automotive Sales Director at ARVEDI, and Christoph J. Brandenburg, Managing Partner of the Craemer Group, at the signing of the agreement. ‘With this step, we are achieving a high level of sustainability, particularly with regard to the decarbonisation of steel production, which contributes to the international automotive industry through Craemer components,’ the two company representatives added.

The cooperation agreement for the supply of sustainable steel from Italy was signed in June 2024. ‘The ARVZERO steel can be used at all Craemer sites with metal processing,’ explains Fabio Graw, Head of Automotive Purchasing at Craemer, ’we can cover an important part of our steel requirements at the sites in Herzebrock-Clarholz and Attendorn in Germany and in Liptovský Mikuláš in Slovakia.’

In 2023, the Craemer Group achieved a total output of around 355 million euros with around 1100 employees at four European production sites. The Arvedi Group has a total annual production of > 5 million tonnes of steel and employs 6,400 people.
