ArcelorMittal Poland postpones restart of Krakow blast furnace
by David Fleschen
The decision not to start the installation at the previously planned date - i.e. in the second half of March - results from the uncertainty associated with the spread of COVID-19 disease in Europe and the fact that we are not able to predict how the situation will develop. We see that some of our clients close their plants or limit their orders.
- We must act responsibly - take care of our employees and our installations. Given the uncertainty we are facing and the fact that we do not know how COVID-19 will spread in Europe, this is the only right decision. At the same time, I would like to emphasize that we are monitoring the development of the situation and are sticking to our earlier declaration regarding the restart of the raw material part in Kraków as soon as the situation normalizes - says Marc De Pauw, general director and president of the board of ArcelorMittal Poland.
