ArcelorMittal launches operation of new blast line at Essen site
by David Fleschen
he ArcelorMittal steel trading branch in Essen is seeking to increase performance and customer satisfaction: an investment of around 600,000 euros has enabled the site to install state-of-the-art technology. This is the branch's response to increasing customer demand for blasted material. After equipping the warehouses with comprehensive LED lighting, this is considered the next milestone.
With the new blasting system, the Essen branch is strengthening its range of products and delivery times, thus ensuring even greater customer satisfaction.
"The investment strengthens our site with a more comprehensive range and improved delivery time for blasted steel beams," comments branch manager Andrea Meißler. Previously, the steel beams were processed by central capacities or external service providers.
In operation: GIETART Sprint 1504 blast machine
The new GIETART high-performance shot blast machine is capable of processing beams up to a profile HEM 1000 and a length of up to 20 meters. The integrated filter minimizes dust emissions to below 1 mg/m³. Noise emissions are also taken into account: Modern sound insulation ensures a noise level well below 80 decibels. This means that the plant also meets the environmental requirements of modern production.
Thanks to the new blasting plant, the steel trading subsidiary is optimizing the marketing of steel beams of all common dimensions in grades S235 and S355 in Germany.
