Alleima: New high-temperature alloy for aerospace and automotive applications
by David Fleschen

Alleima has announced the launch of Alleima® TD, a high-temperature alloy designed for demanding industrial applications. The new product aims to provide reliable performance in environments requiring high-temperature materials, particularly within the heat treatment industry. Alleima® TD is engineered to withstand extreme temperatures of up to 1250°C, making it suitable for mineral insulated cable (MIC) applications, measurement systems, and heating cables.
Industries such as automotive manufacturing, aluminum production, gas turbines, and aerospace engines often operate in challenging conditions that demand robust materials. Alleima® TD addresses this need by offering high precision, reliability, and safety in temperature control and measurement engineering.
With a heritage of over 160 years in Swedish steelmaking, Alleima is a leading manufacturer of advanced stainless steels and special alloys. The introduction of Alleima® TD enhances its portfolio by providing an alloy with excellent corrosion resistance and high strength, ensuring consistent performance at elevated temperatures while minimizing corrosion and contamination risks for cable insulation.
The development of Alleima® TD was a collaborative effort between Alleima and ISOMIL, a Germany-based manufacturer of mineral-insulated cables. The partnership, initiated in September 2021, resulted in a firm order for Alleima® TD tubing, successfully delivered in early 2024.
“Collaborating with ISOMIL allowed us to develop a material solution that supports efficient, profitable, and sustainable industrial processes,” said Rickard Nikander, Senior Product Manager for High Temperature and Heat Exchanger Tube EMEA at Alleima.
ISOMIL’s Operations Manager, Daniel Bergmann, highlighted the benefits of the partnership: “Working with Alleima enabled us to achieve the right material solutions for our project, enhancing overall efficiency and sustainability.”
Alleima® TD is positioned as a specialized solution for applications where precision, reliability, and safety are critical. It is particularly suited for thermocouple sheathing, pyrometers, and heat tracing cables, where accurate temperature monitoring is essential to prevent operational issues. The company oversees the entire production process, from research and development to bar production, extrusion, and cold pilgering, ensuring adherence to the highest quality standards.
In addition to product advancements, Alleima emphasizes sustainability in its manufacturing processes. The company utilizes 80% recycled steel and operates with 96% fossil-free energy globally, aligning with efforts to reduce carbon footprints and energy consumption while enhancing efficiency across industries.
